Sean D’Anconia has built a sophisticated & seductive visual universe by marrying cult-cinema to a wild pop-art aesthetic. Born in Montreal, Canada, D’Anconia was named after another “Sean”- Connery- by his mother, an intrepid James Bond fan. This early “Bondian” bullet would fire itself throughout D’Anconia’s life and creative pursuits.
After living and working in Hong Kong, Florence, Palermo, Vancouver - this bold, iconoclast Canadian designer/artist/cine-visualist is posed to become one of Los Angeles and the twenty-first century’s definers of a new graphic-ideal. Firing from all creative pistons, D’Anconia’s composite world is a “bio pic” of his own imagination: irreverent, visionary, prolific, explosive - based on an encyclopedic knowledge of popular culture past, and a knowing eye for future trend undercurrents years before they hit, D’Anconia’s international design, creative branding, collages, mélanges all serve to integrate his punk-mod sensibility, which pops-out of a razor sharp eye and deft handling of one hella’ imaginary world colored by an eastern tinted lens.
D’Anconia started his fashion career scouting Italian brands while taking film classes at Brooks (Santa Barbara), introducing sportswear collections from Invicta, Ferrari,Momo Design and original Seven to North American markets, then later working for Senior VP of Miramax as executive assistant and story editor on properties like " GO", The Mexican and in the directorial department on the notorious "B" Kung Fu flick - The Tracker.
Realizing that no one would produce his movies until he made them himself, D’Anconia “put them up” on a screen of his own choosing that would first include apparel, shoes, bags and accessories. His cinema d'apparel is a colorful vision of Japanese chivalry charmed by Italian beauties, with a French taste in red wine, as sipped from the steely lips of a Yakuza in a black Aston Martin racing toward a Bondian conclusion.
Design works include for Warner Bros, General Mills, Hawaiian Tropic, King Features, New Balance, Re-Booted movie posters for the iconic Hong Kong studio - Shaw Brothers, and Hello Kitty (Sanrio). His designs have appeared in such television shows as: Dollhouse (FOX), Community (NBC), MTV Fashion News, The Today Show along with On Air with Ryan Seacrest, FHM, Sport & Street, Sportswear International, and his work gracing the cover of menswear bible - MR Magazine. His products can be found at Saks 5th Avenue, Fred Segal, Yellow Rat Bastard, Atrium, Virgin, Harry Rosen, Up Against the Wall, and a host of others.
D’Anconia’s latest brand vision, currently erupting from Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo is Stark Raving Mod!, a new line created through his design group Her Majesty's Secret Studio, and which will feature a Japanese spin on the MOD movement peppered with British spies and lies.
